Hey all...
Please will you let me know of NICE yards in Durbanville side of the world?? Stabling is just getting way to pricey theses days and its forcing me to look at the other options.

You can try Tatooine if you are not competitive or Bucked Off

Bucked Off is nice and spacey, but not a classy competitive yard type - much more laid-back! Good care though.
Country Ways is excellent, but is expensive and there is a waiting list last I checked.
Zelda Taylor's place, Green Acres, is between Durbanville and Tableview. Nice place, but not spacious.
There is also that yard behind Camelot, can't remember the name now.
Also a few places in Brackenfell.
There's a nice place up Westerdale Road. Ask Christine, she used o stable Walter there.
If you don't mind your boy living out, I can recommend Nicola Johnson's place.

If you dont mind outdoor living you can try Whispering Sanz. My horses are there and are very happy and very well cared for. The yard is managed really well. We have 1000 hectares of safe riding area, arenas and it is a very social, happy yard.

Steadfast Stud which is next to Tatooine has a very affordable option and lovely grass paddocks, you provide your own feed and the groom feeds twice a day and puts your horses out and brings them in so you do not have to be there constantly, lovely out there.

I stable on a lovely farm in Durbanville about 2 km from the Tack Shack. It has nice safe outrides, and enormous irrigated grass paddocks so the horses are all extremely happy, relaxed and rather round! They only take non thoroughbred types or ponies and charge under R2000. Its a private farm and the stables are lovely and big and it is really well organised.

I am always amazed at how different horsey peoples views can be on what some may think are a stunning yard. I guess its maybe the more competitive folk who look at things like schooling facilities, grooms etc but at the end of the day, some of these yards have tiny little sand camps where the horses stand day in, day out, beautiful rubber chip arenas for the benefit of the rider, top instructors etc, yet the poor horses are living a most unnatural life, they want to be out grazing and socialising. In summer they are sandblasted and for them, although the owners are paying thousands of rands each month for the beautiful facilities, the poor horses are not happy. I would rather stable in an environment where my horse have grazing, and access to other horses and is able to be a horse not a token of someones wealth. There are yards where one gets both good schooling facilities and lovely grazing, care etc, but someone mentioned on here about a certain yard in Durbanville being really good but the poor horses stand knee deep in mud in winter and in summer do not have a blade of grass, my heart always goes out to them when I see them like that they could be out in the field grazing and socialising, one can almost feel the bordom and their despair as they stand day in and day out in their sand, tugging at their haynets, very sad but I guess all our priorities are different, we may think we are doing our horses a helluva favour by wrapping them in duvets and keeping them stabled most of the year and letting them stand in small dry paddocks, whereas they would probably be far happier caked in mud and knee deep in clover. Just my opionion!

I think most folk will move next door to Steadfast as it is amazing, the outrides are great, the grooms have years of experience and it is incredibly affordable.

Steadfast is great but it's self feeding, which is a problem for those of us who don't live in the area... I must find out how much extra it would be for the grooms to feed

Tatooine has been sold??? How sad!
Lewis, people are able to make up their own minds on what they WANT and can AFFORD.
Lee have you come right?
