Casper is a 7 year old 15hh Fresian / Boerperd X, Bright Bay in colour with black points. I bought him from a farm in October 2006 where he had been used to herd cows. For the first 4 months we just let him adjust to his new life and didn’t work him under saddle and only did small amounts of lunge work. Then we started slow work with him and have been doing some basic schooling from February 2007 until now. He is very relaxed under saddle bar the odd bit of spooking but is very green and very interested in the world around him. He still needs loads of schooling right from the basics and he is still learning how to use his body, work from behind and through his back, long and low, etc. He is loads of fun though and as solid as anything. He loves carrots and affection and is so curious. He will play with your hair, nibble your ears and check your pockets to ensure you are really not hiding anything edible from him. He is very easy to handle but a little nervous until he gets to know you. We have done some T Touch with him and spend lots of time doing in hand work and touching him and working with him on the ground. He is ridden in a bridle with a Cavesson Noseband, NO flash and a KK bit *in photo he was in a Portuguese nathe. Farmer rode him in a Pelham to we were trying to get him to a point where he would accept metal*.
Unfortunately due to personal reasons, I am unable to ride right now and due to his level of schooling and the importance of him getting as much riding time and interaction as possible, it is in his best interest to find someone who will enjoy teaching him, laughing with him and allow him to be a horse and just have fun when I cannot be there. I am therefore looking for someone who would love to help me ride this boy and help to school him, just have fun with him and also hack him out teaching him about city life. Everything has been done slowly to ensure that he gets the best start and it’s imperative that the person continues as we have started. The person needs to be a soft, gentle rider as he is a sensitive horse who has not known anything but farm life and although he needs to be taught I want someone who will do so with kindness, patience and a gentle demeanor. A competent rider with experience is therefore essential. NO JUMPING!!!!! Rneg per month for 6 days a week.
He is stabled in Muldersdrift at a fabulous yard which has both a dressage and a jumping arena, fun shows held occasionally, all levels of riders at the yard, all necessary equipment available. If you want a horse to have fun with and who is the sweetest, softest angel on earth, extremely comfortable and who makes you feel safe, then Casper just might be the right horse for you. Casper has no vices.
