Hi, I'm the blind rider who bought my lovely pitch black horse for entry into endurance riding. My friend Jenny, my sighted riding partner in my area is looking for a horse that doesn't cost the earth, keeping the following in mind:
Must be able to sleep in a paddock at night. Low maitenance and not eat millions of kg's of concentrates daily. Must be barefoot trimmed. Must be at least well backed or with some schooling able to hack out pretty soon. Must have a fair temperament and not willing to kill people or other horses. Mustn't have any serious confirmation Defects. Must be able to with correct care and training be able to do a 30 km endurance ride when ready and preferably in nearish future. Must not be too old.
What a mouthfull, but thinking of a Boerdperd X labrador farm horse at a reasonable price, will be given 24 hour care but not full stables, just night paddocks and mixing with the heard in a large field during the day, so he or she will live like a horse intended, but get a lot of human love and attention too, just like mine is getting there.
