Message from the WP Eventing website: wpeventing.co.zaThe weatherman has not been kind to us over the last couple of weeks and we’ve all been concerned about the going out at Nelson’s Creek, given the unseasonal and unending rain. Late yesterday afternoon our TD (Douglas Welsh KZN TD and Team SA rider) flew down from Durban to join Mike Greeff (National TD), Rob Ramsden (WP TD and Show Organiser), Daniela Muller and Inge Hansen (Rider Reps) to inspect the course. A unanimous decision was made that it would be too dangerous to allow any rider onto the tracks as the going is too slippery and in large parts under 4 inches of water. In addition there is not going to be a let up in the weather out in Wellington until late Friday, which will not allow significant time for the tracks to dry by Sunday. We therefore have no other option, but to postpone the event this weekend. We are however exploring several options: 1. SDRC has offered their dressage arena’s this weekend for us to complete the dressage phase, and then we can complete the cross country and show jumping at a later date. 2. We postpone the full event to a weekend in the near future. Both of these options are have significant scheduling issues with other equine events, events running at Nelsons Creek and availability of officials. We will update the website ASAP as soon as we have more information.
