hey, Can people in the following area's please give me an idea how much I can expect to pay for full livery for 1 horse. Yard should have basic (not necessarily fancy) facilities ie dressage area, some jumping poles etc and outrides. Quiet or competetive yards are both fine. Milnerton or Morning star - places like waterloo, MRC, epona, whitehouse over even private yards in the area Tokia/ constantia - not sure what yards are out there phillipi - not sure what yards are out there

Out the southern subs direction the cost of stabling can be exorbitant (sp) purely because the property rates around here are ridiculous. You can expect to pay anything from R2400 to R6000 in phillipi to Tokai constantia. Most yards dont have facilities on the property but close by there are dressage areana's or places like SHORA and CVRC. In phillipi there is Linda Mohr at VRA and Cheval with Vicky. Both decent yards and charge around R2800 full livery. Both have x country courses on the property, dressage and jumping arena's VRA has the pros of large grass paddocks where cheval dosent.
In Constantia space is always a problem most yards are full. Uitsig charges around R6000 per month full livery, has all the facilities needed as well as nice outrides. There are a few places up Brommesvlei rd which charge around R3500 per month full livery. Mount prospect is not the greatest of yards but it is one of the cheaper constantia yards. It has arena's just up the road, paddocks are not huge or grassed but serve the purpose and stables are nothing fancy i think they charge around R2800 per month. In Tokai there are a few places up Swaansvyk rd, generally nice yards but charge anywhere from R3000 up. All have easy access to the forrest and SHORA.

Hmm.. Can't speak for all the yards in our area but Epona I'm pretty sure you are looking at over 3k. WaterLoo might be around 2700/2800.. Not sure as we left there about 4 years ago. Milnerton I'm guessing is close to that or around 2500. Not sure about many of the Morning Star yards but White House is currently at 2150, Farrier fees not included in that. We have a nice big jumping arena, smallish circuit of a track, dressage arena and smaller schooling arena, one lunging arena with a 2nd to be built soon. All arenas are sand. All Morning Star yards have access to great outrides and it is a lovely riding community. Epona has stunning arenas but only take competitive riders. Waterloo is also beautiful but a bit too close to the dump for me, I'd never hesitate to go back there though! I'm sounding a bit like a sales person now. Hehe. But if there is anything I left out you can ask me, or PM me. I'm dead honest lol

Oh and I think there are some quieter, cheaper yards in Morning Star that might take livery but not sure on facilities and prices.

Ya Uitsig has actually gone over R6k now.
Lisa, in our road the livery ranges from R3500 - R6500 depending on the yard. Most don't have their own arena, but we have SHORA down the road and the forest is a huge drawcard. There is an empty stable at our yard *wink wink hint hint*.

Hi Lisa- Waterloo is R2300 basic right now- add on for lucerne (we buy our own and Fen let's us store it in the empty stables)- also add on for barley (and we add oat and lucerne chaff for our two boys). This includes oat hay in the paddock, when they come in from the paddocks, at dinner, and at 7pm- a generous amount of tranquil or similar (and you can discuss the amounts with the yard owner depending on the work the horse is in etc.)- we have a dressage arena and a sand jumping arena (got waterlogged this winter)- and now fen has re-opened a large sand paddock for riding and jumping and is slowly leveling it- we have a lovely grass arena for shows and special occasions and some heavy old jumping equipment with stunning light weight new equipment tucked away for shows. We have a fantastic sand track around the entire outside (close to 3 kms i reckon) and well-sized paddocks (sand) individual and occasionally shared. The horses are groomed to a shine- and the bedding is generous. it is a happy, sort of crazy yard- with some competitive riders and happy hackers and in between. everyone helps everyone else and there is a good spirit. We have some cross country jumps and just need a work party or two to build a few more. We have a number of outside instructors who come in to teach some folks, and Fen also gives lessons to some of the clients. We have a locked tack room, club room with kitchen and a wash area for horses. It is really excellent value!

I'd look for something around R2500/month. I pay R2500 in Durban central
