Hi... Just putting it out there... Dieu Donne Equestrian Center is a new top yard to be. Its on the boarder line of Stellenbosch and Somerset West. off the R44
Want to see how many people out this side are currently not 100% happy at their current yard and the turn out of their horses and the upkeep? And would be interested in a new 24 hour yard?

drainages around the stable block
Hot and cold water for hosing horses off
Stables hosed weekly.
Feed bins clean out each day

Lee - not a crit - but look at what you have typed - quite a few mistakes.........
It sounds really nice, but be careful of pitching too high - there are not that many people out there who can afford high priced yards so actually middle-of-the-road is more guaranteed to do well than luxury. It doesn't offer over much more than any well-run, good yard in this area and they are around R2 500 to about R3 200.

thanks misty... I went 2 view a few yards the other day and was horrified by the untidiness. The caked up food in the feed bins, yards looking like hey have not been swept in months. Feed room and tack room looking like a mess.. No fly control what so ever. Same brushes used between horses for grooming.
I know if i were 2 stable my horse out here i would not be happy with the turn out of these yards i viewed.

I say put a basic price there for the basic services like R3000. (this is what the area goes for) If the client wants the extras like carrots and fly spray and tack cleaning charge that seperate.

I agree totally - perhaps a good idea would be to start at a level above these yards, but slowly improve even that so that in a year you can say we have added value and justify a fair price increase. Or go to a show and ask people to complete a questionnaire on what facilities they would like (boxes to tick so it is quick) and to indicate what they would be prepared to pay - even if they are not in your area, you should get a very goo general overview of feelings.

in my experience it's better to start off with the kind of price you're aiming for. if you suddenly add a hefty price hike (no matter what you've improved in the facilities) people leave in droves

Lee R3000 upwards - what people need to understand is if they want that 1st class service they need to pay for it and seriously that is not a lot. looking after other people's horses is a hell of a responsibility

That sounds great yoah... You know people complain about the cost of stabling when really that is what it costs to feed horses, if you want good services you have to pay for them, yet you get your cheep places for like R1600 but be sure to know your horse wont get a leaf extra...
I think that yard sounds like a wonderful place!
