I'll be there for a while earlier on but won't be at the demo itself. Unfortunately horses don't put themselves in on the weekend. *sigh* The joys of having your own place!

Misty can you please post an example of each horse she used. I love the back ground stories and the outcome.

1st horse : 5yo Arab mare, typical arab - flighty, quite highly-strung - not been worked too much and not backed. She is very attached to her companion who was there in the morning, then went home so she spent the lunch time making a new 'love of her life' connection - she seemed to need a companion all the time. She did join up after a while - fairly reluctant to start with and them really keen on it! She was also very ticklish in her girth area - so Kelly worked on that and by the end of the session she had Rosie on her back and riding!
Horse 2 : a 16yo Section D. Lovely horse been through some bad experiences but really doing well with his present owner who has had him for 6 years. Problem - this horse is terrified of clippers. He throws a thick winter coat and they were advised to clip him, but the first attempt ended in him breaking out of the stable through a very thick chain and in the process breaking the owners mother's ribs. Next time they tried with him doped till he could barely stand. He freaked again and was eventually found shivering in the farthest corner of the farthest paddock - in spite of barely being able to stand.
Kelly did join up and eventually used an electric toothbrush on a stick and could hold that against him and rub him with it. She established that it was the vibration that frightened him so she started with the clippers on and holding them in her far hand and just touching him gently with the other hand. Slowly she moved them closer - against her arm until he was standing with them being held against him!
3rd horse : a lovely grey boerperd type gelding about 8yo and frightened of everything - even his own shadow! I know this horse and I couldn't believe the difference in him - all kudos to his owner who has had him about 8 months - he looks like a totally different horse and was fairly chilled. His problem is loading and the last attempt took 4 people 2 hours!! Well Kelly had him loaded in about half an hour!! And she then had his owner box him - which she did without a hitch!!!!! Wonderful! Her reaction was very touching as she hugged Kelly - even I felt tearful as I know what it is like to have a horse who you can't load and it all eventually comes right - it was just so really good to see.
I found this year to be even better than last year, maybe because I saw the horses in the morning, and because I knew the one horses - the results were just soo amazing.

Oh dear Bee- after our chat yesterday I realise you and I together are bad girls!!!! LOL! HEEHEE, tell me about it!! The demo was brilliant, she is a real pleasure to watch working with the horses, has a fantastic sense of humour and is very engaging to the audience, and explained everything brilliantly. I also enjoyed the way she made herself available for the audience to come and ask questions during the break and after the show. It was obvious she has a real love for horses and a deep compassion for them. It was money well spent!
