;DHi all, I'm so excited, doing my first endurance ride Next Saturday. I'm only doing the 30 km, but that's a start. I'm the blind rider who bought that black gelding of which I ended up settling with his original name Billy, as that's what's on his passport, and his cute, no matter if the name might sound silly billy to anyone.
My training has been going ok with Billy, mostly unfortunately on our own, there's no-one riding endurance in my area, but I've been doing 8-12 km rides in a fair pace with mostly trotting and slow cantering, and then on week-ends I try do a longer one.
I'd like to invite anyone in the Randfontein area to come support Billy, they're going to announce me as a blind rider and my sighted guide will be Kobus Smit, who's despite conquered bone marrow cancer and has been through kemo and radiation is currently attempting the highest milage ridden in endurance events for the season in SA.
