Hellgirl,
Thanks for joining in as a 'demonstrator' hehe Auf Wiedersehn (sp) is BEAUTIFUL in person.
This was an awesome workshop - things were simplified as much as they could be considering our boiling brains! Dayam it was hot! Thanks to IDL Stud who were hosting. Thanks to the riders (including Hellgirl) who rode the demo's and thanks to Helmut Wagner for the 'instruction' hehe mini lessons.
It was informative and even Mellowsmish learnt something - sometimes it helps to SEE the movements before you're asked to request them from one's horse
WORTH doing more of his workshops despite hellish (scuse the pun) distance to get to him.

There were 4 demo horses one novice, then me as the elementary (starter), then Bonheur (SP) as the EM and a Medium horse. The topic was lateral work and the aim was to show the progression and introduction of movements at each of the different levels.
Starting with basic leg yield, explaining the aids and angle and bend etc.
Then my turn AW came in little tenser than I would have liked but settle very quickly, he was not moving off my leg as nicely as usual but he was obedient and sweet. The focus of my demo was the shoulder in and half pirouette, mostly the same stuff we did in the lesson but I had a better feel and managed to get some good sustained and correct angle out of him although the bend was a little lacking at some points. The pirouettes were not great, cause he wasn’t moving off my leg enough but improved when I opened them up a little.
Strangely at the trot our shoulder in is great and we manage to maintain the bend and angle beautifully.
Then Helmut puts me on a 20m circle at walk and says right now into renvers. EEK, I can’t even think what a Renvers looks like but after a short explanation we manage to show a little. I was very proud of AW he tried very hard and was a really sweetie! So that was me.
Then Caron on Bonny showed the foundations of the more advance lateral movements. Renvers and Traverse at the walk & trot starting from shoulder in and using combos of movements to introduce and prep the horse renvers and tranverse. Angles, aids and bend. They also did there first few steps of Piaffe undersaddle.
The can Ali on her medium horse doing similar movements and combos but at the canter this time and incorporating flying changes etc. Ali showed us some more sustained piaffe.
I was happy to see that it is not only me that struggled to get the shoulder in 100%, as both the other higher graded riders and horses were also not always 100% correct, also loosing the quarter every now and then or giving too much angle. So clearly it is an important movement to establish correctly before moving on.
I really encourage people to come to these clinics I alway learn so much and get a great idea of how much there still is to learn and how to get there!
