western riding

Hi everyone. We bought my husband about 2years back a boerperdx stallion. we had him gelded shortly after we bought him. He was unbacked and totaly green, around 5/ 6 at the stage. I started him on lunging which he took very well but when it came to backing oooo nooooo.... so we left him to grow out if his stallion manners, also moved him to a nicer place (by the way, he lives out). now at the age 7/8 he is much more relaxed, we did manage to get on his back and just walk around every now and then, without us flying around. now we would like him to be trained western but we do not have the knowledge. Is there anyone in the Pretoria area who do teaches western and train horses western? he is still a green horse.

the reason for going western is that hubby doesn't do to well with the english riding and just want to use him as a pleasure horse and to hack.

Pinto, you can get hold of Liezelh, she's very clued up and does very well herself. Otherwise I can give you the number of my instructor, who also competes in western.

You can try the cowboy school, they're in rayton - the owner William is a very nice and helpful guy.
