Nice venue except they have trees down the side of one arena that can be spooky if it is windy. Very well kept venue.

Nice venue. Was there on Saturday. Was funny watching the horses spook at the cows in the field next door though. Some horses wanted to be friends and were neighing.

Are you jumping or doing dressage, Isla? I've done both at Chinta and have enjoyed both shows, although people do sometimes complain about the dressage arenas being a bit spooky. The going is very good and they usually have really good officials working there. It's also easily accessible and the warmup arena for dressage is big (you use the jumping arena to warm up).
If you're jumping, the only down side is that the warmup arena is small and on quite a steep slope. Not fun if you're on a hot horse who bucks and farts a lot.

are the dressage arenas spookier than at riverleigh ?

are the dressage arenas spookier than at riverleigh ? Well, they don't have ostriches oggling you ;D As I said earlier - the trees make it spooky on windy days. We could hear them groaning one day and we were sitting by the clubhouse (two arenas away)

There are no leopards at Chinta, so I would have to say no, they aren't.
I'm still fuming at myself.
And Roderick is still laughing. And he had the gall to say "how does it feel, knowing that if you'd pointed him at it and asked him to jump it, he'd have done it?"
I'm sure that, if I were to kill him, a judge would accept "dressage irritation" as a plausible excuse in mitigation of sentence?
And by "him", I mean Rod, not Barney.

The ostriches were out in full force yesterday, bloody muppets. I wanted to hop over the fence and strangle the buggers!

The leopard on the board in the warm up ring? *stifles giggles* Anine they started off down the field in full bloody view (shallb has a 10km ostrich radar so she found them for me *rolls eyes*) Then moved up to behind the wall by the second arena... all the time they were smirking I tell you

Giggle away, Fishgirl!
We were warming up so beautifully, had been doing so for half an hour, and he was soft, and light and responsive and just fantastic. Started practising my canter serpentines, and brought him back to a trot, and next thing he spotted the leopard and went demented....just as I was due to commence my test.
Poor bastard. It's the first time I've ever seen Barney frightened of ANYTHING.

LOL, Saxon - your horse also took offence to that leopard? I noticed there was someone sitting at the fence on Saturday to keep those blasted things away. Musc was oggling the catering on Saturday and then someone stood up. Well, you wuld think the earth dropped out from under him

That really is such a pity Sax cause he was looking awesome in the warm up arena. I hope you gave Rod a clap.....
