Hi Guys I know there have been previous posts on this but am wanting to find out current prices for stabling in different areas. I'm interested to know: 1) What area you stable in, can say which yard if you would like to 2) What the prices are for both indoor and outdoor livery 3) What care you get for your livery (daily grooming, paddock maintanence etc) 4) What roughage is included in the price (oathay only, oathay and lucerne, teff etc) 5) Do you have grazing 6) What facilities do you have 7) How often is there a price increase (once a year, 6 months) Will really appreciate it if you can post below

I stable outside of PMB. Pay R2250 (full stabled livery), increases are infrequent. Very good care since it's a small yard with only 5 liveries. One large jumping arena, one small arena, lunge arena, and paddock with a few xc jumps and a sand track. Private / shared paddocks, with grazing in summer and bugger all in winter but supplemented with hay. Horses get red grass, but I pay a little extra for eragrostis.
Yep I love my yard!

Oh - and we've got lovely outrides with zebra and a large nyala population! Which is lovely except when the zebra get onto the property and trash everything - they really are destructive.

We run a livery yard in Agter Paarl. www.lukenburg.weebly.comR1800pm and horses are stabled in the winter and out in the summer. If it's a very hot day they come inside during the day. We have enormous grass paddocks all year round, horses are in a paddock with never more than 4 other horses. They're monitored so there is no bullying, if so happens they're moved. Food, blanketing, etc is all included, all suited to the horses needs. We live on the farm so there is always someone here in the event of an emergency. Facilities include a jumping arena, dressage arena, lunge and free jump arena. Price increases every year.

Annie, sadly Southern Suburbs has become so outrageous in price that what Michy is paying is considered a fair price for the area and facilities.

Cheapest in our area is R3900 and most expensive around R6500. Very sad, but Southern Suburbs is the only place I can actually get to ride after work in the week, so just have to suck it up and make lots of sacrificies in terms of finances that are left for my expenses. Bleh.

Sammijane read Michy's post, it is the going rate for the area or probably even less than the average. 1) Morning Star 2) Indoor livery is either R2300 or R2350, not sure what outdoor livery is. 3) Grooms do everything except grooming 4) Oathay nets in paddock and stable, plus extra given in the evening. 5) Sand paddocks 6) Schooling, dressage, jumping and lunge arena. Sand track, plus decent outrides. 7) Generally once a year

There is a lovely outdoor livery yard there and they are asking between R3600 - R4000 per month.

Roller I am with you! Freaking hell, I am sorry but there is NO way I would pay that kind of money for outdoor living. I'm sorry those kind of rates cant be justified - everyone uses the excuse of rates and taxes but ummmm really not that much! I know people need to make money but thats a bit much considering that I feed my beast and pony and they cost me R1800 incl feet every month - fine grated I look after them but my WORD!

Most of the yards in Tokai are full Annie, some even have waiting lists so I guess it's supply and demand? If they can get away with charging those fees then there is no motive for them to drop them.
