I just choked on my coffee for what people pay for their horses, I love my horse but HELL no!
I stable at Jane's (Nicola) - worth every penny in my opinion - I am VERY fussy about were my horse stays. Cajun gets TLC - she has a grass paddock EVERY day. She has personal attention, which in the last month has been much appreciated as I have been busy with my new job. The arena isn't perfect but it does it's job and its pretty level. Best of all, its QUIET and NO politics.
I can not for the life of me understand people paying so much money for a dustpan and medicore service.

Haha! I can trump all of you!!!!
I pay £40 per £WEEK DIY - that roughly equates to R450. This gives me A stable in a dark converted pig barn, with access to an indoor arena - when there are no lessons - so not between 9 - 5 every day. Then there is a walker and one paddock - 10m/ 12m which is limited turn out always. there is a horse walker, which you can use if there is an openning. But the speed is used as ponies and when you have a WBx it is just too slow and she turns arround all the time. Not out rides... And if you are first on the yard in the morning you feed all the horses.... Feed at the moment is £32 for a bag of Baileys concentrate and £15 for the local Chaff delivered!!!

I pay R2450 for full livery and then R500 per shoeing (if he gets a full set) every 6 weeks.

I'm the same as you Viking, just I pay R350 for a full set. Our new fees (new ownership and management) range from R1950 for ponies to R2900 for the bigger breeds (16.1hh up). Luckily His Royal Fatass is still under 16.1...
