Arte, i found the one bit that worked REALLY well with a strong horse i schooled once (as in his mouth was dead from years of abuse) was www.westernshoppe.com/products/APPLE%20MOUTH%20AMERICAN%20GAG.aspx , it has quite alot of poll pressure but as it is a straight bar and an apple mouth is is not as severe as most gags.

I found the horse was soft and easy to work with but when needed the action of the gag came into play for extra control.

Since light travels faster than sound, people appear bright until you hear them speak.
