One of our alliance partners in Cape Town literally perform miracles. They are amazing and have saved animals as well as helped to educate so many people in impoverished areas. One of their successes is in Deepfreeze in Cape Town. They would like to have a little celebration and hope that some people may consider joining. Please see their note below:-
HI all PETS supporters,
We are sure you have read on our Newsletter that we have managed to sterilise 95% of our Deepfreeze informal settlements animals.
The community of Deepfreeze is made up of 63 homes, of which all the people living there have a cat, dog or both or a couple of each. We have been trying hard to sterilise, de-worm, feed, and educate in this area to help the animals. We have come across a VERY appreciative and accommodating community. The people are very receptive to our advice and the help we offer. The animals have gone from bad to great in no time at all, all because we have managed to work together with the community. The people are enjoying looking after their pets and seeing them pick up weight and be healthy.
Quite a few of you have also donated clothes, toys and book etc and the people are truly thankful for all of this!!! This is a community of people living far below the breadline.
We would like to do something nice for them, just because...
We have decided on having a braai for them on 15 September 2009.
We would like you to join us and come and visit or if you cannot join us, to please help donate towards this cause so that we can make it a reality:
We need:
• People to sponsor a family for a braai (meat and salad and cool drinks). If we can find 65 people who can each sponsor one family a braai, we can and will make this happen. We will do all the work. We are pulling in our husbands and friends to help braai and make salads, but we cannot pay for it ourselves. You can either sponsor a family by coming on the day with all the goodies, or you can donate an amount to us and we will do it on your behalf.
• We would like to have the animals part of this stunning project and spoil them too, so if you would rather/also sponsor a Deefreeze pet a nice meal, then let us know. We want try to give each dog/cat a food bowl with a nice tin of food in.
Believe us when we say this is the BEST therapy in the world = giving to others!!! So please be a part of this project of happiness with us and either join us on the day (Deepfreeze is just off the N2, near Maccassar) or send us a donation to hand over and be a part of something special

Please note this is a very safe area. The people know us very well and we have never ever encountered any hostility.
