Can any1 tell me anything about this TB mare? Her SPCA name is Spitfire but I renamed her Syrah. She is about 4 years old now. I adopted her from the SPCA in Grassy Park, I had her for a year and then sent her back because I didn't have the time or exprience to sort out a rearing problem she had.

She went to an 8 year old boy and his family in Stellenbosh with another one of the SPCA horses. She is doing really well and is coming on very nicley. Although she dosent rear anymore (thankfuly that was sorted out) she does still have the odd temper tantrum and throws the odd buck. I will try get some pics for you if you would like?

That would be nice, thanx, so you are laura who helped with her. Do you think there would be any chance of me being able to take her some carrots? Oh... the saddle I'm selling was her's.
This is kinda off the subject but I am interested in getting involved with animal welfare/SPCA or any organisation that rescues horses. I have space to foster 1 horse at a time on my property. I run a small livery (as in 4 or 5 liveries max) and have a horse and 2 ponies of my own, one of which I also adopted from the SPCA. Who should I get in touch with?

Hi there, Yes it is me. Oki doki. Im thinking the gullet may be a little low. I did pm you back but maybe it didnt go through so sorry about that. My internet has been up to nonsense and as soon as i post some messages in certain sections i get kicked off and some pm's dont go through.
Hmmmm the best thing to do would be to contact Carolyn Gillmer. She has just started up a horse sanctuary that is working with the SPCA to rescue and rehab horses. She only has so much space for the rescues so she needs places willing to take them on a foster basis feed them up if possible get them used to being handled and seeing how much (if any) training they have had.
Il pm you her number and yo could take it from there. Most other horse rescues dont do fosters as they keep them on their property till they are homed.
Im not actually sure where in Stellenbosh she has gone as they dont give out details but i know they have sent pics to the SPCA so i can scan those in and send them to you.

That's what I thought Kels. Just wasn't sure as Spitfire is a rather unusual name...
