Manon Sounds like a good idea but I'm not sure if I would move my horse out of his familiar enviroment ....might cause more stress. I would rather pay someone to come to my yard to help

I agree with Reality. While the idea sounds nice, I don't think I'd move my horse away for a limited amount of time for recovery. I would rather do it myself or pay someone to come out to, what is essentially my horse's home and sanctuary, and help him recover there. Its very stressful for a horse to move yard even when they are in good health. More so when they are ill. Another thing to keep in mind is that a person moving his/her horse will lose their box at the old yard and it won't be kept for them. So after the recovery period, if the old yard is already full, they will need to find alternative stabling and this could lead to more stress for the horse and owner. Great idea, but not something I would do.

I agree with what Salinero and Reality have posted - especially the possible stress caused by moving the horse to a strange place.
One thing I have had thoughts about is a sort of travelling nursing service - for the yard owners who maybe work during the day and dont always have someone 100% reliable at the stable, or who need a helping hand in coping with a recovering horses.....all sorts of situations. I am lucky to have hubby who works from home so he is home a lot of the time and a neighbour who is excellent and in anycase spends part of every day at my yard because she simply cant live without horses.
